Eleanor

Meeting Drala

Eleanor
Live from the Great Eastern Songs concert, March 16th, 2019, Brooklyn
Lyric Excerpt
Bright, shining light beaming gleaming sight so bright for all to see
Sheen, gleaming Queen, giving living green your sheen for all to see
Through the fall and the winter time I call
Eleanor, can't you see that it is me you're looking for

Fly, skying high wheeling reeling by to fly your name to me
Sing, swinging ring, swirling curling spring to sing your name to me

I call around, all I want is to be found
Eleanor, can't you see that it is me you're looking for

How To Build an Air-Tent

Natural Hierarchy

Lyric Excerpt
If you are the older brother, you will be Project Engineer.
You will need one large box fan….

Come on sister let’s clean up the floor
And by the way, we’re gonna have to take out the door
Gotta make room for the crane
I need a million hundred thousand twenty hundred feet of rebar
I’m gonna put the foundation right where your feet are
All materials flown in by aeroplane

While the butter beans bask in the sun, And the dog digs his dirt just for fun
As the cat takes an interest in her health, the grass grows all by itself

Learning To Stay

Getting To The Meditation Cushion

Lyric Excerpt
Tonight will be my first night home in two weeks.
I will perform meditative house chores. I will bake brownies.
I will not go out.
I will read. I will read The Pleasure Seeker by H. Verner Dixon, a tempestuous novel of a woman’s strange desire
I will prepare myself
That no one will text. That she won’t reply. That no one will ask where I was. But I will not go out
And search

Pipeline To The Sun

Craving Social Status

Lyric Excerpt
He had a big gun. He had a half-stack
He had a cool job that would pat him on the back
He had a zoom ride, he had a zoom cash
He had a zoom closet that would make him zoom flash
(Heaven hold my hand) I listen to the word box. (Heaven hold my hand) I listen every day
(Heaven hold my hand) I listen to the hip sound (Heaven hold my hand) and it seemed to say
Hey, where you been, man? Out in the Weed?
You know that milk and honey ain’t got what you need
You come up here, boy, where it’s all done
We got a pipeline right to the sun

The Stalker

Self Aggression

Lyric Excerpt
I can see it now, staring back at me. I can hear it now, speaking fluently
When will you ever learn to hold your tongue
It comes creeping in, working every day. It’ not a sin, but it will damn you anyway
When will you ever learn to hold your hands
Tell me how can I come around, tell me when will it come unwound
Tell me do I have to cut it down with my own bare hands
No more givin in, no more believing that excuse. No more cavin in, to that subtle self abuse
When will I ever learn not to act like me

Serenade

Bodhicitta Aspiration

Lyric Excerpt

How could she have loved that child and have just run away
How could she have loved that child and have tossed her away
Turn me out, Turn me in, do not turn on me
Though I love her with all my heart that will forever haunt me

How could he have beat that child after all he went through
How could he repeat that trial be victim… attacker, too
Turn me out, Turn me in, do not turn on me
“Doing this hurts me more than you” how could that ever be
Tear me up, Tear my life apart Break my heart

How could we become a wonderlove
How could we become a serenade
How could we become a rose in bloom
How could we become a serenade

My First Lie To You

Fearlessness In Parenting

Lyric Excerpt
My first lie to you
You wanted to run on your bare feet into the glass littered street
That will hurt - too much
Just think of the tears you'll cry as you bleed

Then I lied again
You wanted to see how badly she bled Your mother in pain Gash on her head
That will hurt - too much
I’m sure such a sight
will haunt round your bed
Did you believe it?

More and more I lied
you wanted to beat your friend in the race kid gloves were off no second place
that would hurt - too much
Just think if you lost All the shame what a waste
Did you believe it?

Now listen what I say, Don’t ever turn your back ,Be careful where you step
Cause you know that I love you, you know that I need you, you know I won’t leave you
You know I would never would never let you down
This is my one and only wish

Mister Moon

Aloneness

Lyric Excerpt
Tell me Mr. Moon, are you jealous of the stars? How they keep their place and know just where they are
Guiding travelers by, mapping earth and sky
Do you wish you could stop your wandering?
Tell me Mr. Moon, are you jealous of the sea? With its endless waves and tireless energy
Tides no one can tame never wax or wane
Do you wish to be forever full?
Or is it better alone, to be free without a home? Can you see into my soul and feel the hole?

Stars Fell On Shambhala

music by Frank Perkins, lyrics by Mitchell Parish (Lyrics lightly edited by Bryan Wade 2006)

We lived our little drama
We kissed in a field of white
And stars fell down on Shambhala (Alabama)
Last night
I can't forget the glamor
Your eyes held a tender light
And stars fell down on Shambhala (Alabama)
Last night
