I’m Bryan Wade—a guitarist, teacher, and bandleader based in Brooklyn.
I’ve been playing, performing, and teaching for most of my life, but what I care most about is this:
helping people feel at home with the guitar.
Most of the students I work with aren’t trying to become someone else. They’re trying to reconnect with music, build confidence, or finally make sense of an instrument they’ve loved for a long time.
How I Teach
I don’t follow a rigid method or one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Lessons start with listening ,to what you want to play, what feels difficult, and how you’re hoping the guitar will feel and sound right now.
You don’t need prior experience. If you’re brand new, we start by getting comfortable with the instrument and making sound feel manageable. From there, we usually focus on one or two ideas drawn from the music you care about (often from your own playlist) that you can take home and use right away.
That might mean:
- finding a hand position so playing feels easier
- finding a simpler way into a song you love
- understanding why something feels awkward and how to fix it
- getting the part to feel and sound the way you want it to
I care a lot about feel, comfort, and clarity. Progress doesn’t come from forcing your hands or overwhelming your brain. It comes from understanding your instrument, and yourself, a little better each time.
Who I Work With
I work with adults at all stages, including:
- true beginners
- players returning after years away
- intermediate guitarists feeling plateaued
- musicians who want to trust their feel, not just follow tabs
You just need curiosity and a willingness to listen to your hands make music.
If you’d like to see whether it’s a good fit, you can schedule a free session here.
Beyond Lessons
I’m also an active performer and collaborator, which keeps my teaching grounded in real music—not just theory.
For students, that often means:
- working on real songs
- developing rhythm and time feel
- understanding how guitar fits in with other musicians
- optional opportunities to play with others, when you’re ready
I believe learning music should feel alive, not like homework.
Where Lessons Take Place
Lessons are held in my Brooklyn studio, with options for in-person and limited online sessions depending on fit.
If you’re local, lessons tend to work best face-to-face—but we’ll talk through what makes sense for you.
A Final Note
If you’re looking for:
•pressure
•drills without context
•or someone to tell you what you should want
I may not be the right teacher.
But if you want thoughtful guidance, steady progress, and a space where you can relax and learn, you’ll probably feel at home here.
